As a result of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), which gives you greater control over how your personal data is used, your privacy is important to us and our communications with you are affected by the legislation. This includes the publishing of your names and addresses within the Directory for the Independent Methodist Connexion (IMC).
If you are a Church Minister, Church Secretary or hold any office within the Connexion, we need your consent to publish or use any personal information about you that you may have supplied. This includes your name, address, and contact details, whether telephone or email. We also seek your consent for the purpose of legitimate interest.
We are using this opportunity to update the contact information, such as your name, address, telephone number and email address. We would appreciate it if you would confirm your consent, complete your details and sign below. If you do not consent to the processing of your details, please confirm and your details will not appear in the IMC Directory – however, we will still use those details as a contact point for communication with you and/or your church.
What we need
The Independent Methodist Association will be what is known as the “Controller” of the personal data you provide to us. The Independent Methodist Association’s Registration Number is 254007, and its registered address is Fleet Street, Pemberton, Wigan, WN5 0DS.
Unless otherwise agreed with you, we will only collect basic personal information about you, which does not include any special categories of personal information about you (often know as “sensitive personal data”). This information does, however, include the details we ask below – name, address, telephone number and email address.
Why we need it
We need to know this basic personal data in order to communicate with you as a Church Minister, as your church representative, or as an office holder within the Connexion. If you do not provide this information, then this communication cannot take place. We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need other than in order to communicate with you or your church.
What we do with it
All the personal data we hold about you will only be used by our staff in the United Kingdom and no third parties will have access to this personal data unless there is a legal obligation for us to provide them with this. Please be aware, however, that your information may be stored on a cloud-based system whose servers are located within the European Union.
We take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is processed securely and only for the purposes for which it is provided.
How long we keep it
We will generally keep your personal data for as long as you are a Church Minister, Church Representative or hold an office within the Connexion, after which time it will be destroyed since it will no longer be required for the lawful purpose(s) for which it was obtained.
What we would like to do with it
If the need arises to contact you, we will use one or all of the channels you provide to us.
