Bolton Folds Road Independent Methodist Church was established in 1820.  The church also operated a day school from 1873, which was transferred to the Bolton School Board in 1882.  The church was closed and demolished under Compulsory Purchase Order in 1970.  There was also a burial ground which was cleared when the church was demolished.
